While the Rubell family moved their collection west to Allapattah in 2019, the Margulies Collection remains the serious art anchor inside Wynwood proper. Real-estate developer Martin Z. Margulies fills 45,000 square feet of converted warehouse with rotating selections from his enormous holdings of contemporary photography, sculpture, video, and large-scale installation — work by Anselm Kiefer, Olafur Eliasson, George Segal, and many others.
It is open only during the season, roughly October to April, and the modest admission goes entirely to a local shelter for homeless women and children. This is a quieter, more contemplative stop than the murals outside, and a reminder that Wynwood's art credentials run deeper than its Instagram backdrops.
