Bethesda-by-the-Sea is a Gothic Revival Episcopal church on the oceanfront side of Palm Beach, set in mature grounds with a cloister garden that provides a quiet contrast to the surrounding town. The current building dates from 1927, though a church has stood on the site since 1889 — making it one of the oldest congregations in the county.
The church is best known in the wider world as the venue for Donald Trump's second wedding, to Marla Maples, in 1993. Locally it is known simply as the Palm Beach church, the one whose congregation represents the old money that has attended since the Flagler era. The grounds are open during the day, and the Cluett Memorial Garden — a small formal garden beside the church — is a peaceful spot worth a brief visit. The church interior is open for tours on weekdays; the stained glass is particularly good.
