Ponce City Market

A 2014 redevelopment of the vast 1926 Sears, Roebuck building on Ponce de Leon Avenue. The ground floor is a food hall of independent vendors — H&F Burger, Hop's Chicken, El Super Pan — and the upper floors house offices, apartments, and Skyline Park, a small rooftop amusement park with a Ferris wheel and panoramic views over Old Fourth Ward and the BeltLine.

The food hall is the obvious lunch stop on the Eastside BeltLine; the rooftop is worth the ticketed admission at sunset. The shops on the second floor are mostly modest local independents — a refreshing alternative to Lenox Mall.

A story
The original Sears, Roebuck & Co. Atlanta distribution centre opened here in 1926 — at two million square feet, it was the largest brick building in the southeast. It served as a city government complex from 1990 to 2010 before being converted to its current mixed-use form. The basement still has the original concrete loading dock for Sears delivery trains.
