Shopping

Atlanta is a shopping-mall city. Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza in Buckhead are the standard upscale malls; Ponce City Market in the converted Sears Roebuck building near Old Fourth Ward is the more interesting recent addition — independent retailers, a food hall, and a rooftop amusement park.

Little Five Points has the kind of vintage clothing, record, and bookshop concentration that disappeared from most American cities a generation ago. The Sweet Auburn Curb Market on Edgewood Avenue, open since 1924, is the place to buy Georgia pecans, peaches, and country sausage.
