Helen's attractions divide between the town itself — tubing on the Chattahoochee, the Bavarian-themed shopping strip, Oktoberfest — and the surrounding Chattahoochee National Forest, which has genuinely good hiking, waterfalls, and swimming holes. The Nacoochee Valley to the south and Unicoi State Park to the northeast are the main nature destinations.
