East Beach

East Beach is the main beach on St. Simons, a wide, flat stretch of pale sand on the Atlantic side of the island. At low tide the beach is hundreds of yards wide and excellent for walking and biking; at high tide it narrows down to a more conventional swimming beach. The Coast Guard Station and the Massengale Park entrance both have public parking.

The water is warm from May through October, calm relative to the more exposed Florida coasts, and good for swimming, bodyboarding, and gentle surfing. Watch for the small jellyfish in summer. East Beach has no commercial development; for snacks and bathrooms, bring your own or visit the village a mile north-west.
