Big Four Bridge

A former railroad bridge turned pedestrian crossing between Louisville and Jeffersonville

The Big Four Bridge is one of Louisville's best urban walks: a former railroad bridge converted into a pedestrian and cycling span over the Ohio River. The long ramps give the crossing a ceremonial feel, with skyline views on one side and Indiana on the other.

Go near sunset if you can. The bridge lights come on after dark, Waterfront Park fills with local walkers, and the round trip gives a clean, memorable sense of Louisville's river setting.
