Dorr Museum of Natural History

A small natural history museum on the College of the Atlantic campus, free to enter, focused on the wildlife and ecology of the Gulf of Maine. Dioramas show black bear, moose, sea birds, and seals; tide-pool tanks let kids handle starfish and urchins.

Allow forty-five minutes. The campus itself, sloping down to the bay, is worth a wander. Open afternoons in season, often weekdays only.

A story
Every exhibit is built and curated by undergraduates at the College of the Atlantic — the museum doubles as a teaching collection, and the dioramas reflect what the current cohort happens to be studying.
