Abyssinian Meeting House

Abyssinian Meeting House is Maine's oldest surviving African-American church, built in 1831 by Portland's free Black community. Its links to abolitionist organising and the Underground Railroad make it one of the city's most important civil-rights sites, even as restoration work continues.
