Bryant-Lake Bowl

Bryant-Lake Bowl is simultaneously a bowling alley (eight lanes), a full-service restaurant, a bar, and a 100-seat cabaret-style theatre, operating from a 1940s building in the Lyn-Lake neighbourhood. It is possibly the best single encapsulation of the Minneapolis ethos of unexpected combination — nothing about the place should work together, and all of it does.

The theatre programs local comedy, spoken word, music, and theatre, running shows most nights of the week. The bowling lanes (full-pin, no bumpers) are reservable and can be hired by the hour. The restaurant kitchen does full meals from morning through late night, covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a menu that skews vegetarian-friendly. The bar pours a good mix of local craft beer and classic cocktails.

A story
Bryant-Lake Bowl opened in 1993 in a 1940s bowling alley building, retaining the original eight lanes while adding a full restaurant, bar, and 100-seat theater. The owner described the concept as "a bowling alley for people who normally don't go to bowling alleys." The combination proved so successful that it has defined the Lyn-Lake neighbourhood's character for three decades.
