Gallatin History Museum is a strong local-history stop in Bozeman, housed in the former county jail. Its exhibits cover the Gallatin Valley, frontier settlement, law enforcement, Native history, and the ranching and mountain-town stories that shaped the area.
The old jail setting gives the museum more character than a generic civic collection. It is a useful grounding stop before heading into the mountains, because it explains the valley community that grew at the edge of those landscapes.
