Omaha's climate is continental with significant extremes. Summers are hot and humid — July averages around 30°C — and winters are cold, with reliable snow and temperatures frequently below -10°C. The best times to visit are late spring (May and June) and early autumn (September and October), when temperatures are pleasant and the outdoor spaces, including the Old Market and Lauritzen Gardens, are at their most enjoyable.
The College World Series baseball tournament is held in Omaha every June, a major event that draws large crowds and fills hotels — book well in advance if your trip coincides with it. The Omaha Summer Arts Festival in June also attracts visitors to the Old Market. The Henry Doorly Zoo is busiest in summer, which means earlier opening hours and more crowding — arriving at opening time is worthwhile.
