Omaha punches above its weight for a mid-sized city. The Henry Doorly Zoo alone is worth the trip — consistently rated among the best in the country, it has the world's largest indoor desert and a full-scale rainforest under one roof. The Old Market district is the city's most walkable neighbourhood, with independent shops, restaurants, and bars housed in 19th-century warehouse buildings along cobblestone streets. The Durham Museum occupies the old Union Station and covers the region's history well. Boys Town, a few miles west of downtown, is still an active residential campus and open to visitors.
