Jones House

1908 Queen Anne home in downtown Boone, now a cultural centre

The Jones House is a 1908 Queen Anne–style home on King Street that the town of Boone now runs as a community cultural centre. Free rotating art exhibitions fill the ground floor, and the wide front porch and surrounding lawn host the town's Friday-evening Doc Watson Concerts on the Lawn in summer — an open, free, decidedly folk-rooted music programme named for the local guitar legend.

The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the few residential survivors from Boone's early-20th-century downtown. Worth a stop in passing, especially on a concert evening.
