Moses Cone Memorial Park is one of the best Boone-area outings on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The former textile magnate's estate preserves Flat Top Manor, broad meadows, lakes, and miles of carriage trails that are gentler than many mountain hikes.
It is excellent for travellers who want Blue Ridge scenery without committing to a strenuous summit. Walk to Bass Lake for an easy circuit, or take a longer trail toward Flat Top Tower if you want views and have the time.
