Yellow Springs is a small southwest Ohio village with more personality than its size suggests. Antioch College, independent shops, a long activist streak, and a walkable downtown give it a clear identity.
The strongest reason to come is the mix of village life and nearby nature. Glen Helen Nature Preserve starts close to town, while Clifton Gorge and John Bryan State Park make the area one of the better walking and hiking pockets in western Ohio.
Yellow Springs works best as a relaxed day from Dayton or Columbus: a morning on the trails, lunch or coffee downtown, then a slow browse through shops or a film at the Little Art Theatre. Warm weekends can be crowded, but weekdays keep the place easier to enjoy.
