Jamil's Steakhouse

Tulsa institution since 1945, the last of the Lebanese-owned supper clubs

Address 2833 E. 51st Street, Tulsa

Jamil's Steakhouse opened in 1945 and has been feeding Tulsans the same menu with the same recipes ever since. The Lebanese immigrant community that built Tulsa's mid-century supper club scene has largely moved on, but Jamil's remains — and it is the kind of place that makes you glad for institutions.

The formula is simple: steaks, Middle Eastern-influenced starters (the hummus and tabbouleh are excellent), and a warm, unhurried dining room. The menu includes cabbage rolls, kibbeh, and Lebanese-style salads alongside the Oklahoma steaks. Expect to wait on weekend evenings — reservations are strongly recommended.

A story
Lebanese immigrants opened dozens of supper clubs and steakhouses in Tulsa during the oil-boom decades, a community presence so significant it shaped the city's restaurant culture for a generation. Jamil's is the last survivor. The family still uses the original recipes, and the tabbouleh has been made the same way since 1945.
