Getting Around

Most of historic Charleston fits into a peninsula less than 5 km long and is best seen on foot. The free DASH trolley buses loop around the downtown stops, CARTA runs city buses to the beaches and suburbs, and ride-hail apps are plentiful. For something slower and more touristic, horse-drawn carriage tours leave from the City Market. A bicycle is also a great way to cover more ground on flat Charleston streets.
