The College of Charleston is an active university, not a museum, but its central campus is worth noticing while you walk the city. Brick paths, live oaks, and historic academic buildings create a softer, lived-in counterpoint to Charleston's more formal house museums and churchyards.
Visit respectfully and keep to public outdoor areas unless attending an event. The campus works best as part of a downtown wander, especially between King Street, Marion Square, and the surrounding residential blocks.
