The Kwahadi Museum of the American Indian sits on Amarillo's east side and presents Native cultures of the Plains and Southwest through displays, dance regalia, art, and performance traditions. It is closely associated with the Kwahadi Dancers, a youth performance group whose programs have introduced many visitors to intertribal dance styles.
The museum is smaller and more community-based than the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, but it adds a valuable perspective to Amarillo's regional story. Check hours before going, as smaller museums can keep limited schedules. If performances are offered during your visit, they are the strongest reason to make the trip.
