Wildcat Bluff Nature Center

Prairie and bluff nature preserve on Amarillo's western edge

Wildcat Bluff Nature Center protects a piece of High Plains landscape on the edge of Amarillo: prairie grasses, cottonwoods, dry creek beds, and low bluffs under a very large sky. It is a quieter outdoor alternative to the bigger drama of Palo Duro Canyon.

The trails are best in mild weather, with water, sun protection, and realistic expectations about wind. Visit for local ecology and space to walk, not for manicured gardens or mountain scenery.
