Court of the Patriarchs

Three towering sandstone peaks named for Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

A short walk from a shuttle stop on the canyon road, a small viewing platform looks across the river at three vast sandstone peaks rising in a row above the western canyon wall: the Three Patriarchs of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, named in 1916 by a Methodist minister visiting the canyon. A fourth peak, Mount Moroni (after the angel of Mormon scripture), sits in front of Jacob.

The walk takes ten minutes. The viewpoint is busy at midday; come at sunrise or in the late afternoon for the best light and the company of mule deer browsing in the meadow below. The trail continues to the Sand Bench Trail if you want to keep walking.
