Public Hospital

The Public Hospital of 1773 is a reconstructed Colonial Williamsburg building with exhibits on the treatment of mental illness in the 18th and 19th centuries. The original hospital was the first purpose-built mental health facility in British North America.

It also serves as an entrance to the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, so it is an easy addition to a museum visit.
