A genuine year-round farmers market — open Thursday through Sunday from April to October, weekends only in winter — at the north end of downtown, just back from Percival Landing. The Olympia Farmers Market is one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest and one of the oldest continuously operating in the country.
Local produce dominates: shellfish from the surrounding inlets, vegetables from south Sound farms, mushrooms foraged in the Olympic forests, and a notable cluster of bakers and cheesemakers. The food stalls in the central pavilion are the easiest cheap lunch in town — clam chowder, fresh oysters, Vietnamese banh mi, Mexican tamales, Indian curries.
