Charleston Brewing Company, in a tall narrow brick building off Capitol Street, brews on-site and is the easiest place in town to taste West Virginia craft beer. The rotating taps include the year-round IPA and pilsner plus seasonal sours and stouts; flights are an easy way to triangulate.
The room is small and gets noisy when busy — weekday afternoons are the calmest visit. There is a small kitchen for pretzels, charcuterie, and sandwiches. Open from late afternoon.
