Coonskin Park

Large municipal park with lake and trails

Coonskin Park is the largest municipal park in the Kanawha Valley — a 1,000-acre tract north-east of downtown around a man-made lake on Coonskin Branch. Paddle boats, fishing docks, an 18-hole golf course, picnic shelters, a campground, and several miles of paved walking paths spread across the rolling forested land.

The park hosts the annual FestivALL fireworks and the Independence Day celebrations. About 15 minutes by car from downtown, just off Coonskin Drive. Open dawn to dusk; free entry.
