Haddad Riverfront Park stretches along the Kanawha River at the foot of downtown, with a tiered grass amphitheatre facing a covered stage. The free summer concert series "Live on the Levee" brings thousands of locals down on Friday and Saturday nights — bring a folding chair and a cooler.
Outside concert nights the park is the most pleasant strip of riverfront in central Charleston: paved walking paths, fishing piers, and views across to South Charleston and the bridges. The annual Sternwheel Regatta in August uses the park as its main staging point.
