Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame

The museum attached to Lambeau Field telling the full story of America's only community-owned pro sports team

The Packers Hall of Fame in the Lambeau Field Atrium is one of the best sports museums in the United States, and it's worth visiting even if you have only passing interest in football. The exhibits cover the team's history from its founding in 1919 by Curly Lambeau with a $500 donation from a local meatpacking company through nine Super Bowl championships, presenting it all with evident pride but without excessive sentimentality.

The collection includes championship trophies, game-worn jerseys, footage of legendary games, and a thorough account of the team's unique community ownership structure — 360,000 shareholders, mostly Wisconsin residents, who hold non-dividend-paying shares that cannot be sold on the open market. The combination of the football history and this unusual corporate story makes the museum surprisingly thought-provoking. Admission includes access to the atrium and the option to add a guided stadium tour.
