Milwaukee's standout attraction is the Milwaukee Art Museum, whose Calatrava-designed Brise Soleil — a set of movable white wings that open and close over the lakefront — is one of the most striking pieces of architecture in the Midwest. The Milwaukee Public Museum is a dense, old-school natural history museum with the best display of its kind in Wisconsin. On the north side, the Pabst Mansion and the Pabst Theater are monuments to the beer-baron era that shaped the city. The Milwaukee Riverwalk follows the river through downtown and is the best way to see the city on foot. Out in Bay View, the neighbourhood on the Lake Michigan shore south of downtown, you will find the city's liveliest concentration of independent bars and restaurants.
