A long, forested ridge rising 2,500 feet directly above town — the visual backdrop to every street in Casper. The drive up Casper Mountain Road takes about 25 minutes and opens onto a small ski hill (Hogadon), looping campgrounds, and a network of trails through pine and aspen.
The Bridle Trail loops 4.5 miles across the upper mountain, easy and shaded. In winter the cross-country ski trails are groomed; in summer the mountain is up to 10°C cooler than the city below, which is why every Casper family has at least one barbecue scheduled up here on the hottest weekends.
