A residential historic district of large turn-of-the-century houses east of the Capitol, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Lakeview was Cheyenne's premier address from the 1880s to the 1920s — the era when cattle barons, railway executives, and territorial politicians built ambitious homes near the Capitol. The streetscape has changed remarkably little: Queen Anne, Shingle Style, and Colonial Revival houses sit on broad lots with mature trees.
The neighbourhood is best appreciated as a 30-minute walking loop — start at the Charles Beatty House on Capitol Avenue, work east past the Moreton Frewen House, and circle back via Storey Boulevard. Self-guided walking-tour maps are available from the Wyoming State Museum.
