By air. Bariloche's Teniente Luis Candelaria airport (BRC) is 15 kilometres east of the city. Aerolíneas Argentinas, LATAM, JetSmart and Flybondi fly daily from Buenos Aires (just over two hours), with seasonal connections from Córdoba, El Calafate, and Mendoza. International routes have come and gone — check current schedules. A taxi to town costs around 8,000 pesos (2024); the airport bus is cheaper but infrequent.
By bus. The long-distance bus station is centrally located. Overnight cama-bed services run from Buenos Aires (20-22 hours), with daytime services from Mendoza, Puerto Madryn, and El Bolsón. Crossings to the Chilean side of the lakes — through Puerto Montt or Osorno — take a full day on the famous Cruce Andino combined bus-boat route via Lago Frías and Lago Todos los Santos.
By car. The 1,600 km drive from Buenos Aires takes two long days. RN40 from the north and RN237 are the standard approaches. In winter, carry chains and check road conditions.
