Bariloche shopping is dominated by chocolate. Mamuschka, Rapanui, Del Turista, and Fenoglio all have shops on or just off Calle Mitre and provide an embarrassing amount of free sampling. Prices for boxes are about 30% above what you would pay in Buenos Aires for the same brand — the premium for the Bariloche label.
Outdoor gear shops cluster on Mitre and Quaglia: the Patagonia flagship, Columbia, and a handful of Argentine outdoor brands. Genuine Mapuche silver and weavings are sold at the Sunday craft market in Colonia Suiza and at the Centro Civico's stalls in summer. Cuero-leather goods, hand-made knives, and yerba mate gear are everywhere.
