Eating Out

Bariloche eats like an Andean Argentina — Patagonian lamb, smoked deer, lake trout, and the standard Argentine parrillada of beef cuts and chorizo. Locally brewed beers from Patagonia's micro-breweries are everywhere. Most restaurants concentrate along Calle Mitre and the side streets above, with a second cluster around Bustillo on the way to Llao Llao.

For inexpensive parrilla, locals point to the corner places on Avenida Onelli and Moreno. For higher-end, head out toward Cerro Otto where wood-and-stone restaurants serve venison and trout with lake views. Vegetarians have it tougher than in Buenos Aires but the main streets have a handful of options.
