At the top of the Largo do Pelourinho, a yellow townhouse where Jorge Amado lived and worked. Amado is the writer who put Bahia on the world map — Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands, Gabriela Cravo e Canela, The Violent Land — and the museum preserves his manuscripts, photographs, and personal library in atmospheric rooms.
Modest in scope but rewarding if you have read any of his books. The first-floor balcony has the best framed view of the Largo and the church of Rosário dos Pretos opposite.
