Café do Porto, in a restored warehouse a few blocks from the riverfront, is one of the more pleasant places to sit down in central Manaus during the day. Bare brick walls, ceiling fans, big sash windows; tables outside on the cobbled lane. Coffee is good and roasted in-house, the cakes are dense and reliable, and there is a short menu of sandwiches and salads for lunch.
It functions as an informal office for journalists and design types, so it can get busy mid-morning, but turnover is fast. A welcome break from the heat and noise of the streets outside.
