Skina dos Sucos is the place in central Manaus to try the Amazonian fruits in their most accessible form — as cold juices and sorbets. The counter lists dozens of options: cupuaçu (creamy, sour, the great regional fruit), taperebá, açaí com guaraná, graviola, bacuri, the eye-watering acerola. Order at the cashier and collect from the bar.
The shop has been open since 1985 and is busy from late morning onwards. It also sells the X-Caboquinho — a heroic local sandwich of tucumã, melted cheese, banana and salty pork in a bread roll, which goes well after a few hours of city walking.
