Laranjinha sits on the Ponta Negra boardwalk with tables out under palm trees facing the Rio Negro. It is one of the best-known of the kiosks along the beach: cold beer, fried fish, prawns with garlic, and a rotating list of caipirinhas made with Amazonian fruits — taperebá, cupuaçu, abacaxi com hortelã.
Live forró and Brazilian pop bands play from Tuesday to Sunday. On weekend nights the place is packed and the dance area in front of the band fills quickly. Sunset (around 6 pm year-round) is the best time to arrive for a table by the rail.
