Ponta da Praia is the easternmost neighbourhood of Santos, where the seafront promenade ends at the mouth of the estuary and the ferry crosses to Guarujá. It is the place to come to watch container ships pass within touching distance — the deep-water channel runs only a few hundred metres offshore.
The neighbourhood is quieter and more residential than Gonzaga, with a relaxed weekend atmosphere. The aquarium, several seafood restaurants, and the schooner-tour docks are all here. It is also the embarkation point for the ferry crossing to the beaches of Guarujá.
