The Port of Santos is the busiest in Latin America, handling about a third of all Brazilian foreign trade. A handful of operators run schooner tours from the docks near Ponta da Praia, taking visitors up the estuary past the container terminals, refineries, the naval base, and back along the Guarujá shoreline.
Tours typically last 90 minutes to two hours. They are interesting both as a slice of working Brazil and as a chance to see the city from the water. Most go on weekend afternoons; weekday tours are usually private charter only.
