The cathedral of Santos was built in stages between 1909 and 1924 in a neo-Gothic style, with a single high facade and twin towers. Inside, the nave is unexpectedly luminous, with stained glass and painted vaults that catch the afternoon sun.
The cathedral sits on the Praça José Bonifácio, a small square at the heart of the historic centre. It is open daily; mass on Sundays is the best time to see it in use.
