The classic surf beach on Florianópolis's east coast, with powerful Atlantic waves and long sandbanks that have made it the island's surf capital for decades. Beyond surfing, the enormous sand dunes alongside the beach are famous in their own right — sandboarding down them is a popular half-day activity. The beach draws a young, energetic crowd and gets very lively in summer. Even non-surfers come for the dramatic setting, with forested hills behind and the open ocean in front.
