Located in the neighbouring municipality of Floridablanca, part of the Bucaramanga metropolitan area, the Eloy Valenzuela Botanical Garden is the largest botanical garden in northeastern Colombia. It covers around 14 hectares and has collections of native Andean plants, orchids, bromeliads, and a section dedicated to useful and medicinal plants. The garden is named for the eighteenth-century Colombian botanist Eloy Valenzuela, who was among the first to document the flora of New Granada. A good half-morning excursion, especially if travelling with children. Taxis from central Bucaramanga take about 20 minutes.
