The oldest of Bucaramanga's many plazas, Parque García Rovira is framed by colonial-era buildings and anchored by the whitewashed Church of San Laureano — one of the few colonial structures to survive the city's rapid twentieth-century growth. The square is shaded by old trees and filled in the evenings with students, vendors, and families. The church, dating from the eighteenth century, is the most atmospheric in the city; its plain white facade and dark timber interior feel genuinely old in a way that little else in Bucaramanga does.
