Bosque Protector Cerro Blanco protects a rare stretch of tropical dry forest just west of Guayaquil. It is one of the easiest ways to see the landscape that once covered much of coastal Ecuador, with ceibo trees, seasonal greenery, and a strong chance of bird sightings if you go early.
The reserve has marked trails of different lengths, and a guide is a good idea if wildlife is your main reason for visiting. It is hot, exposed in places, and more rugged than a city park, so bring water, sun protection, and shoes that can handle dusty paths.
