Malecón del Salado is Guayaquil's other waterfront, built along the Estero Salado rather than the Guayas River. It is smaller and more local in feel than Malecón 2000, with planted walkways, bridges, snack stalls, and places to sit by the water when the heat starts to lift.
Come in the late afternoon or evening, when families are out and the lights around the estuary make the walk more atmospheric. It is not a substitute for the riverfront, Las Peñas, or the museums, but it broadens the picture of Guayaquil's urban renewal beyond the main postcard strip.
