Activities

Sinnamary's trips are on two pieces of water. The estuary in front of the town is where the scarlet ibis feed; the Petit-Saut reservoir, half an hour inland, is a flooded forest of standing dead trees where the wildlife concentrated on the islands when the water came up in 1994. Carbets on the lake are the usual way to see it, with paddling, birds and a night out.

Upriver there is the Saut Lucifer, a set of falls reached by pirogue, and on the coast road a rosewood plantation that still distils its own oil.
