Grégoire Creek

A tributary of the Sinnamary River accessible by a short pirogue trip from town, Grégoire Creek is the easiest and most popular half-day excursion from Sinnamary. The creek winds through primary rainforest, and the canopy is close enough overhead that birds and monkeys are encountered at eye level rather than in silhouettes against the sky. Morpho butterflies are common; red-throated caracaras and various parrots are frequently seen.

The trip takes two to three hours by pirogue and can be arranged at the riverside on the morning of departure. It requires no previous boating experience and is suitable for families. Bring insect repellent, water, and sun protection.
