Beach Bar

The informal beach bars near Mile Six are the social heart of Limbe at weekends. Coolers packed with Castel and 33 Export, plastic chairs in the sand, and a sound system playing a mix of Cameroonian makossa and Afrobeats at a volume that makes conversation optional. The crowd arrives from Douala after midday on Saturdays and doesn't thin out until late afternoon; by Sunday evening the beach is quiet again.

During the week these same spots are barely open, and when they are, the atmosphere is entirely different — a handful of locals, cold beer, and the sound of the waves. Both versions are worth experiencing.
