Limbe punches well above its size when it comes to things to do. The town sits at the foot of Mount Cameroon, West Africa's highest peak and an active volcano whose last eruption dusted the coast in ash, and the black volcanic sand at Mile Six beach is one of the most striking stretches of coastline in Central Africa. The Limbe Wildlife Centre is considered one of the best primate sanctuaries on the continent, home to rescued chimpanzees, gorillas, and drills in spacious, well-managed enclosures. For those with more energy, Mount Cameroon itself draws serious hikers from across the region, with guided expeditions departing from nearby Buea.
